Breadcrumbs on a blog post show readers the category the post sits in and let them jump back to it in one click.
Place the free Breadcrumbs block from Nexter Blocks in your single post template, and every post gets the trail.

Before You Start
- Edition: Free — works in Nexter Blocks (free) and with Nexter Blocks Pro.
- Block to enable: Breadcrumbs, switched on under Nexter > Blocks in your WordPress dashboard.
- A single post template: build one with the free Nexter Builder (Nexter > Theme Builder) if your site does not have one yet.
- Posts with categories: the trail uses each post’s category.
Steps
- Open your single post template and add the Breadcrumbs block above the post title.
- Click Design from Scratch, then choose a Style in Breadcrumbs Bar.
- Optional: on the Layout tab, open SEO Option and turn on Enable Schema Markup.
- Save the template and open any blog post on your site.
How It Behaves
- The trail is Home, the post’s category with its parent categories, then the post title.
- If a post has more than one category, the trail uses the first one.
- The post title is cut to 20 characters by default. Change it with the second Current setting in Visibility (100 shows full titles).
- With Enable Schema Markup on, the block adds BreadcrumbList structured data to the page.
Limitations
- Leave Show Terms off for normal categories. With it on, a post in a child category shows that category twice (for example Home, Tutorials, Gutenberg, Gutenberg).
- Do not set the Parent or Current limit to 0: it empties the crumbs. Use 100 for full titles.
- In the template editor the block shows a sample trail. Check the real trail on a published post.
Troubleshooting
The category appears twice
Turn off Show Terms in Visibility. The category path is already shown without it.
The breadcrumbs do not show on posts
The block is in a template that does not apply to single posts. Check which pages your template is set to display on in Nexter Builder.
