Key Takeaways

  • Nexter Theme v4.2.7 removes IE11-era code and adds static caching for option calls to improve accessibility.
  • Nexter Extension's core module is refactored into smaller classes, enhancing future updates' speed and stability.
  • 27 WooCommerce blocks are set to be released this month, built natively in Gutenberg for product pages to checkout.

This month’s update is mostly under the hood. But you’ll feel it every time a page loads. We pushed Nexter Extension v4.6.3 and Nexter Theme v4.2.7, focused entirely on speed and stability.

🎉 — What’s New?

Here’s what’s new in Nexter Extension v4.6.3 and Nexter Theme v4.2.7.

  • Faster Frontend Loading: We consolidated multiple database reads into a single cached call per page request. If you’re running a content-heavy site, you should notice the difference.
  • Core Module Refactor: The extension’s core has been split into smaller, focused classes. This doesn’t change anything on your end, but it makes future updates faster and more stable.
  • Legacy Code Cleanup (Nexter Theme): We removed IE11-era code that was no longer needed, added static caching for option calls, and enabled skip links by default for better accessibility out of the box.

What’s Coming Up?

We’re releasing 27 WooCommerce blocks this month. From product pages to checkout, built natively in Gutenberg. Keep an eye out for the dedicated email when they drop.

🗞️ â€” WordPress & Tech Bytes

  1. WordPress has released WordPress 6.9.4 on March 11 as a maintenance and security update. If you’re not ready for WordPress 7.0 yet, make sure you’re at least on 6.9.4 to stay protected.
  2. Gutenberg 22.7 introduced a new Connectors admin page under Settings that lets you manage AI and external service connections from one place. It also added style variation previews in the editor and a WaveForm Player visualizer for the Playlist block.
  3. Gutenberg 22.8 has been released with a notable collaboration upgrade: real-time collaboration now shows collaborator text selections, not just cursor positions. This brings the editing experience closer to what you’d expect from Google Docs, right inside WordPress.
  4. Gutenberg’s Tabs block got a major refactor, now using multiple inner blocks instead of a single rigid structure. This gives you much more control over how individual tabs look and behave, without needing custom CSS workarounds.
  5. WordPress 7.0 has been delayed past its original April 9 date. The core team pushed it back to stabilize the real-time collaboration feature. A new timeline will be confirmed by April 22, with the release now targeting mid-to-late May 2026. When it ships: real-time multi-user editing, inline Editor Notes, an AI Connectors UI, and DataViews replacing the classic WP List Tables.
  6. Google has rolled out both a March 2026 Spam Update and Core Update within the same week, creating significant ranking volatility. The core update began rolling out on March 27 and is expected to finish around April 10, with Semrush Sensor reaching 9.5/10 during peak volatility. Google is tightening its stance on low-quality AI content and strengthening search intent matching.
  7. Google has announced that from July 1, 2026, websites without a functional mobile version will be excluded from Google’s index entirely. If your site isn’t mobile-friendly yet, this is the deadline to act.

đź”Ą â€” Tool of the Month

tl;dv is a free AI meeting recorder that works with Google Meet and Zoom. It joins your call, records everything, transcribes it in real time, and gives you an AI-generated summary with action items when the call ends.

If you’re a freelancer or agency, you know how client calls go. They mention 15 things they want changed, you remember 8 of them, and then there’s a back-and-forth over what was actually agreed on. tl;dv solves that. Every call is searchable, timestamped, and summarized.
