Big Update : New 2-Factor Authentication in Nexter Theme 3.1

Nexter Theme, Best starter WordPress theme known for its comprehensive website builder, top-notch security, and exceptional performance, has recently announced a big update – New 2-Factor Authentication in Nexter Theme 3.1.0 Pro version.

This new feature is expected to provide an additional layer of security for users, making it more difficult for unauthorized users to gain access to their accounts.

With the rise of WordPress vulnerabilities, it has become increasingly important for website owners to take necessary precautions to protect their website and user data. Two-factor authentication has been proven to be an effective security measure, and its implementation in Nexter Theme 3.1 is a step in the right direction.

Users will now have the option to enable two-factor authentication via an authenticator app, adding an extra layer of security to their login process.

What is 2-Factor Authentication and Why You Need it?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security process that requires users to provide two different authentication factors to verify their identity. It adds an extra layer of security to your website and protects against unauthorized access. The two factors can be anything from a password and a code sent to your phone, to a fingerprint and a facial scan.

In today’s digital age, online security breaches are becoming more common and sophisticated. Hackers are always looking for ways to access sensitive information, and passwords alone are no longer enough to protect against these attacks. This is where 2FA comes in. By requiring two different authentication factors, 2FA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access.

There are several benefits to using 2FA. Firstly, it helps to prevent unauthorized access to your website. Secondly, it provides an additional layer of security for sensitive information such as financial data and personal information. Finally, it can help to build trust with your users, as they know that their information is being protected.

To set up the 2-Factor Authentication, go to Appearance → Nexter Settings → Security and enable Two-Factor Authenticator.

Once enabled, you will be directed to the dashboard shown below. Here, we’ve incorporated controls that dictate which users are required to authenticate with 2FA. You have the option to enable it for all your members by setting up ‘Subscriber’.

Alternatively, if preferred, you can limit it to ‘Admin’ users, granting them maximum control over the website.

We offer three primary methods:

  1. Email-Based: OTPs are delivered to your email inbox.
  2. TOTP/Authenticator-Based: Use Google Authenticator to scan or utilize your password manager.
