A hand-picked list of product IDs on the home page becomes someone’s maintenance job. Six months later nobody remembers why those three are there.
Featuring products moves that decision into WooCommerce, where it belongs, and the listing follows automatically.
Before You Start
- Edition: Pro — the Product Listing block needs Nexter Blocks Pro.
- Block to enable: Product Listing, switched on under Nexter > Blocks in your WordPress dashboard.
- WooCommerce active, with published products. The block reads your real catalogue, so an empty store renders an empty listing.
- At least one product marked as featured, using the star in the WooCommerce products list.

Steps
- In Products, mark the products you want by clicking the star in the featured column.
- Add or select your Product Listing block.
- Set the product source to featured.
- Set how many products to show.
- Publish and check the real page.
How It Behaves
The listing asks WooCommerce for featured products, so the selection is managed outside the page.
- Measured on a published page: with three products marked featured, the listing rendered exactly three products, and no others.
- Featuring is a WooCommerce flag, set from the star in the products list, so anyone who manages the shop can change the home page without editing it.
- With nothing featured the listing is empty. Measured: before any product was marked featured, the same block rendered zero products. Nothing on the page explains why, so this is worth knowing.
- Other sources work the same way, including on sale only, which is useful for a promotions section.
- Measured with Nexter Blocks Pro deactivated: the block renders nothing at all — no wrapper, no products, no prices. This is a Pro-only block.
Limitations
- Pro only — measured with Nexter Blocks Pro deactivated, nothing renders.
- An empty featured list renders an empty section with no explanation, which is easy to ship by accident on a new shop.
- Featured is a single flag across the whole site. You cannot have one set of featured products on the home page and another elsewhere — for that, use specific product IDs.
- Nothing limits how many can be featured. Feature forty products and the flag stops meaning anything.
- The order is the listing’s ordering, not the order you featured them in.
Troubleshooting
The section is empty
No products are marked featured. Measured: with nothing featured, the listing renders zero products. Star some products in the WooCommerce products list.
Where do I mark a product as featured?
In Products, click the star in the featured column, or set it in the product’s publish panel.
Too many products are showing
More products are featured than you thought. Review the featured column and unstar the ones you do not want.
I want a different set on another page
Featured is one site-wide flag. Use specific product IDs for a per-page selection.
