# How to use Image Gallery, Video inside Accordion WordPress Block?

## Key Takeaways

- Nexter Blocks Accordion lets each item hold images, image galleries, videos, shortcodes, or a Container block instead of only plain text.
- Content Type set to Editor turns an accordion item into a normal block editor canvas for direct block insertion.
- Content Type set to Pattern requires Nexter Blocks Pro and reuses a saved WordPress Pattern that updates everywhere it appears when edited later.
- Patterns are shared sources, so editing one Pattern changes every accordion item and every other site location that uses the same Pattern.

## What It Does

The Accordion block's Content Type setting lets an accordion item hold more than plain text. You can add real WordPress blocks, such as images, image galleries, or videos, inside it, either directly in the editor or through a saved Pattern.

## Why It Matters

A plain-text accordion works for simple FAQs, but it cannot show a screenshot, a demo video, or a custom layout inside a collapsed item. This setting lets each accordion item hold a full block-based layout instead of only a paragraph.

## What You Get

An accordion item that can show an image, a gallery, a video, or a full combination of blocks, not just written text.

*For the full settings overview of the Nexter Blocks Accordion block, [see this guide](https://nexterwp.com/docs/add-accordion-in-wordpress/).*

## Capabilities

- Add most core or Nexter Blocks blocks inside an accordion item: images, galleries, video, shortcodes, even a Container block.

- Build the content two ways: directly with the block editor (Editor, Free), or from a saved block Pattern (Pattern, Pro).

- A Pattern used inside an accordion updates everywhere it appears if you edit the Pattern later.

## How It Works

Each accordion item has its own **Content Type** setting. Set it to **Editor** and the item becomes a normal block editor canvas, so you can drop in any block directly. Set it to **Pattern** (Pro) and you instead pick a WordPress Pattern you already created, the item then displays whatever blocks that Pattern contains. Because Patterns are shared, editing the Pattern later updates it everywhere it is used, including inside the accordion.

## How to Use It

**Before you start:** this feature is part of the Nexter Blocks Accordion block, so Nexter Blocks needs to be installed and activated.

**Option 1: Editor (Free)**

- Add the Accordion block to the page and open the item you want to add content to.

- From **Content Type**, choose **Editor**.

- The accordion item now works like a normal block editor canvas. Add an image, video, gallery, shortcode, or even a Container block directly inside it.

**Option 2: Pattern (Pro)**

- Build the blocks you want to reuse, then select the container holding them, open the 3-dot menu, and choose **Create Pattern**.

- On the accordion item, set **Content Type** to **Pattern**, then select your saved Pattern from the dropdown. You can also create a new Pattern directly from this step using the **Create Pattern** button.

## Use Cases

- An FAQ answer that needs a short demo video or screenshot instead of only a written explanation.

- A feature or specs accordion where one item shows an image gallery, reused as a Pattern across several similar pages so they all update together.

## Limitations

- The Pattern option needs Nexter Blocks Pro. On the free version, only Editor is available.

- Patterns are shared: editing a Pattern changes it everywhere it is used, including every accordion item and every other place on the site that uses that same Pattern, not just the one you are working on.

- This only works with the Nexter Blocks Accordion block.

## Troubleshooting

- **Pattern is not available as a Content Type option.** Pattern requires Nexter Blocks Pro. On the free version, only Editor is available for custom content inside an accordion item.

- **Editing a Pattern changed content in accordions you did not mean to touch.** This is expected behavior, not a bug. A Pattern is a single shared source, so any edit to it applies everywhere that Pattern is placed. If you only want to change one instance, detach it into regular blocks first instead of editing the shared Pattern.

- **Content inside the accordion, including embedded images and video, does not display at all on iPad or other tablets.** This has been reported before on a block-theme site running Nexter Blocks, even though the same page worked on desktop and phone. If you hit this, confirm you are on the latest Nexter Blocks version, then contact support with your device and browser details.
