# How to Add Facebook Login to a WordPress website?

## Key Takeaways

Signing in with an account people already have removes one more reason to abandon your form.

The Login & Signup block in Nexter Blocks Pro adds a Facebook button to your login or registration form.

*For every Login & Signup setting in one place, see the [Login & Signup block guide](https://nexterwp.com/docs/add-login-signup-in-wordpress/).*

## Before You Start

- **Edition:** **Pro** — the Login & Signup block is part of Nexter Blocks Pro.- **Block to enable:** Login & Signup, switched on under **Nexter > Blocks** in your WordPress dashboard.- **A Facebook app** with Facebook Login added, created at Facebook for Developers. You need its **App ID** and **App Secret** from Settings > Basic.- **Your site in the app's settings:** add the page holding the form under Valid OAuth Redirect URIs, and your domain under Allowed Domains for the JavaScript SDK.- **A live app:** Facebook requires a privacy policy URL and the app switched to Live before other people can use it.

## Steps

- Add the **Login & Signup** block to your page and click **Design from Scratch**.

- In the **Forms** panel, set **Type** to **Login**.

- Open the **Login** tab, click **+ Add Field** and choose **Social Login** in the **Field** dropdown.

## How It Behaves

- Visitors click the Facebook button, approve the app, and are signed in to your site.- If their Facebook email matches an existing account, they are signed in to it.- Your App Secret is stored on your server and is never sent to the browser; only the App ID is.- The same Social Login field works on login and registration forms.

## Limitations

- **Pro only.**- The app must be Live in Facebook, otherwise only its own developers and testers can sign in.- Facebook only allows sign-in from domains listed in the app, so staging sites need their own entries.- People whose Facebook account has no email address cannot be matched to a WordPress user.

## Troubleshooting

### Facebook says the app is not available

Switch the app to Live in Facebook and make sure a privacy policy URL is set.

### The button appears but sign-in fails

Check the page address is listed under Valid OAuth Redirect URIs and your domain under Allowed Domains for the JavaScript SDK, then copy the App ID and App Secret again.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: What do I need before adding Facebook login to WordPress?**
A: Facebook login in Nexter Blocks Pro depends on a few setup pieces being in place first. The Login & Signup block must be enabled under Nexter > Blocks, and the Facebook app has to be created in Facebook for Developers with Login added. You also need the App ID and App Secret from Settings > Basic, plus your form page listed under Valid OAuth Redirect URIs and your domain under Allowed Domains for the JavaScript SDK. If the app is going public, Facebook also requires a privacy policy URL and the app switched to Live.

**Q: Should I use an inline form or a button for Facebook login?**
A: Inline Form keeps the login form visible on the page, while Button opens it from a toggle button. That choice matters because it changes how much of the page is dedicated to authentication versus content. Nexter Blocks Pro lets the same Social Login field work on both login and registration forms, so the layout decision is mostly about presentation and flow, not capability. If you want the form always present, inline is the cleaner fit; if you want a lighter page, the button keeps things compact.

**Q: How does Facebook login behave when someone signs in?**
A: The Facebook button sends visitors through approval and then signs them into your site. If their Facebook email matches an existing WordPress account, they are signed into that account instead of creating a duplicate. That matching behavior is important because it keeps returning users tied to one identity. Nexter Blocks Pro also stores the App Secret on your server only, while the App ID is the only value sent to the browser.

**Q: Why does Facebook login only work for some people on my site?**
A: Facebook login has a few hard limits in this setup. The app must be Live in Facebook before other people can use it, so developers and testers may be the only ones who can sign in while it is still in development mode. Facebook also only allows sign-in from domains listed in the app, which means staging sites need their own entries. Another edge case is users whose Facebook account has no email address, because those accounts cannot be matched to a WordPress user.

**Q: Why does Facebook say the app is not available?**
A: That message usually points to app status or missing policy setup. In this flow, the fix is to switch the app to Live in Facebook and set a privacy policy URL. Those two details matter because Facebook blocks wider use until the app is live and compliant. If you are testing locally or on staging, remember that only developers and testers can sign in until Live mode is enabled.

**Q: What should I check if the Facebook button shows up but sign-in fails?**
A: The most common failure here is an OAuth or domain mismatch. Check that the page address is listed under Valid OAuth Redirect URIs and that your domain is under Allowed Domains for the JavaScript SDK, then copy the App ID and App Secret again. That combination matters because the button can render even when Facebook rejects the callback or domain authorization behind it. Nexter Blocks Pro uses those exact values to complete Social Login.
